restore280 carries out research, education, and interventions on what humanity needs to thrive. In doing so, we strive to ensure the most dignified possible future for every human. We aim to cover the full range of systems on which human dignity depends, starting with the atmospheric, political, economic, and social. We focus on the gaps between what science, data, and basic decency require and what culture, policy, and funding actually deliver, as well as on the institutional failures that force people into decisions they would never make freely.
The existential threat posed by the climate crisis makes reducing atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations and restoring the preindustrial baseline of 280 parts per million carbon dioxide our highest priority.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we operate independently, accepting no investments and no donations with perverse incentives.
